I honestly lust after Italian foods and was fortunate to enjoy a recent lunch with my wife Barb at a South Minneapolis legacy, Broders’. Since 1982 Broders’ Cucina Italiana (The Deli) has been serving the local community their fantastic homemade pasta dishes, pizza, spectacular breads and desserts. Broders is a delight and with the variety it offers through its diverse menu and dining venues this place is a must for multiple visits. The venues include Cucina Italiana (The Deli), Pasta Bar (The Restaurant) and Terzo Vino Bar (Wine Bar). Each within a one minute walk of the other and each with their own unique personality. The variety continues with the option to dine in, take out, delivery or catering.
Our simple lunch for two was a sampling of a few of the Deli’s offerings. We started with a bowl of perhaps the best Gazpacho soup ever accompanied by several slices of Focaccia, two Meatballs in marinara, Stuffed Artichokes with Ricotta, a Salami Sandwich on Baguette, and a slice of their signature pizza, Prosciutto & Arugula, with garlic and mozzarella.
The Deli has limited seating and is open daily at 11:00, Saturday at 10:00. The Restaurant works well for parties of 2-4, and The Wine Bar offers a communal table to accommodate parties of 8 or more.
Please have a safe and fun packed Labor Day Holiday and give many thanks for great friends and your family!!!
Bill’s Beverage of the Month
Big Wood Brewery from White Bear Lake, MN – Another local doing a fantastic job of bringing fine beer to the community. I have tried all three of their Year Round beers, Morning Wood, Jack Savage and Bark Bite each is a treat to taste with my favorite being Jack Savage.
Check out their website to locate “Where you can get Wood”!
