Burch Steakhouse and Pizza Bar is not kidding around! The hype is for real, as proclaimed by nearly every local publication that reviews restaurants. Burch Rocks!!
My daughters selected Burch for a family dinner on Valentine’s Day Eve and suggested the lower level Pizza Bar versus the main level Steakhouse. The beauty of Burch is you can order from both menus in either location.
The Pizza Bar, with sections of large booths and stone walls, is definitely comfortable and certainly more casual. Once seated we politely advised our server that we intended to completely explore the menus offerings and we were not pressed for an early exit.
Next was family style dining and 3.5 hours of delight. We tried a little of everything from various sections of the menu, Contorni, Raw, Starters, Dumplings, and Sides, orders included, Lamb Meatballs with carrot slaw | Oven Roasted Sweetbreads with capers, bacon and vermouth | Marlin Crudo with dry peppers, pine nuts, burnt onions | Schupfnudel with walnuts and Gorgonzola | Roasted Cauliflower with anchovies, burrata | Grilled Brussels Sprouts with anchovy vinaigrette, soft boiled egg, and from the Raw menu 21 Oysters.
After our induction to Burch variety we simplified our entrée selections to a Butter & Parm Pizza with pizza dough, brushed butter, grated Parmesan cheese, the Coppa Cotta Pizza with wood roasted red peppers, smoked pork shoulder, mozzarella, hazelnuts, and a Hanger Steak (the least expensive offering from Burch Steak, a bargain at $12.00 and it is spectacular) from the 100% Grass Fed Beef steak menu. Take note of the Burch Steak section which features 100% Grass Fed Beef, Prime Beef, Domestic Wagyu and Certified Japanese A5 Wagyu.
To cap it all off was Port, Bailey’s and coffee, Cappuccino and Desserts of Carrot Cake and Winter Fruit Strudel along with the $0.25 Small Treats.
Burch following in the foot prints of its elder siblings 112 Eatery and Bar La Grassa won’t disappoint.
Go low to the Pizza Bar, come hungry and leave happy!
Bill’s Beverage of the Month
A collaboration by Surly, Three Floyds Brewing and Real Ale Brewing, Blakkr is an intense Imperial Black Ale boasting a whopping 10% ABV. If you can find it you should buy it; it’s ridiculously great!
Notes from Surly’s website, “This double black as night IPA is too massive for just one brewery’s efforts. BLAKKR took the trinity of Real Ale Brewing Co., Surly Brewing Co. and Three Floyds Brewing Co. to actualize this crushing ale. This Imperial Black IPA has flavors of black licorice and bitter sweet hop aromas of pineapple.”
