Latin Fusion Cuisine at Cafe Ena has been a regular stop of mine for years and on each visit I’ve noticed this place across the street. Kings Wine Bar, no offense Chef Hector but Kings is now on my hot list. Seriously, how did I miss this place for so long? My apologies, it won’t happen again! With an impressive listing of wines, draft and bottled beer along with sake, Kings opens with great first impressions. Add to that friendly bar service and dining staff, thanks to the wonderful Heather. I am a huge fan of small plates and family style dining. At Kings the following spread immense joy to all: Spanish Octopus with sorrel, cannellini beans and burrata | Scallop Crudo pickled rhubarb, shallots and poppy seeds | Deviled Eggs togarashi, mustard seed | Bloody Mary Ribs dry rubbed rib along with celery seed and soy | Salumi Sampler (this plate, my friends, is about as good as it can get) with three house prepared meats and three local cheeses along with Kings pickle jar, stone ground mustard , fruit spread and bread crisps. Perfection! Check out the picture on the sidebar, the Salumi Sampler is worth a visit by itself!! Staying with the small plates theme I ordered the Tuscan Kale Salad egg, provolone, crouton, roasted garlic vinaigrette and Stuffed Quail bectarube agrodolce, biscuit stuffing, radish from the Small Plates menu section as an entrée. Neighborhood dining at its best, Kings Wine Bar!
Bill’s Beverage of the Month
Brought to you by Indeed brewing, LSD, as in L for Lavender, S for Sunflower Honey and D for Dates. This is definitely a summer favorite available on tap and in the bottle, find it, buy it and drink it.
Notes from Indeed’s website, “A kaleidoscopic combination of Lavender, Sunflower Honey, and Dates set the stage for a mind-bending beer experience as delicate floral aromas dance atop rich notes of fruit, and honey. Conceived by our head brewer, Josh Bischoff, LSD was originally produced by the Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery where it received a medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2011.”
