I completely love urban dining and am continuously amazed at what is missed living in suburbia. Literally, on many an obscure street corner in Minneapolis and it’s little twin St. Paul there is great food, drink and fun! “Drive Fast. Take Chances. Eat Cheese Curds.”, this is Pat’s Tap! I was fortunate to enjoy an evening at Pat’s Tap along with several great friends, one of whom lives nearby, some had frequented for a beverage of choice but none had dined. Surprise, Pat’s is good, it’s actually really good! This meal included, SMALL PLATES, Lamb and Beef Kofta cucumber onion dill relish, zatar spice, yogurt and shawarma sauce | Fried Pickles with ranch dressing | Fried Dill Cauliflower with bagna cauda aioli, MEAT & CHEESE, M&C Plate charcuterie, M’s of salami, summer sausage, ham, C’s of glacier wildfire spicy blue, maple leaf smoked gouda, sherard’s way friesago, horseradish Havarti, and a few BIG PLATES including Sonoran Chicken dry rubbed roasted breast and thigh, organic spring mix, black bean and corn salad with chipotle-honey vinaigrette | Coconut Curry with jasmine rice, peas, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, carrots, green beans with chicken as an add on | Fish Tacos mahi, fresh corn tortillas, lime aioli, fresh veggie slaw, avocado, pico de gallo, and “TA DA” Lamb Gnocchi, braised lamb, potato gnocchi, roasted tomato, eggplant, gremolata, satori parmesan! Pat’s also features salads, an assortment of burgers/sandwiches a mighty fine tap lineup. We all completely appreciated Pat’s great food, beer selection as well as its bartenders and servers. Highly recommended for a low stress, high quality food and drink place to experience with a bunch of friends.
The end of a great evening is about to get even better! Directly across Nicollet from Pat’s is Hola Arepa, serving Latin cusine, with an outdoor bar and craft cocktails. Hola is perhaps worthy of a future review but for now only a taste Aviso/ gin, lemon juice, dolin genepy, cava and mango tonka bitters. Check out Pat’s Tap and while doing so stop at Hola Arepa!
Bill’s Beverage of the Month
Notes from the brewery: “This lively IPA delivers a crisp and light malt body with ample citrus and pine notes from Chinook and Equinox hops. Inspired by the aromas and silence we experience when exploring the scenic pine forest just up the road from our brewhouse.”
