Housed in the Food Building of NE Minneapolis, along with Red Table Meat and Baker’s Field Flour & Bread, is The Draft Horse. Who would have guessed that a Pot Pie would be the reason you should dine at The Draft Horse? I seriously would never have thought that I would order a pot pie in the first place nor that it would be a recommendation of conviction!
I have not yet gotten past the Sandwiches and Pot Pies sections of the menu, nor taken in Dinner or Brunch. However, I have enjoyed many fine lunch visits with both clients and friends. The press boasts the Charcuterie, Bologna Sandwich, Beef Ribs and more, while I exalt the Roast Beef and Cheese Sandwich – limousin beef, Lone Grazer Northeazy cheese, whiskey onions with Horseradish crème on a Baker’s Field bun.
My selection, however, has forever been the Pot Pie, offered in Braised Limousin Beef from Peterson Farms, Roast Chicken from Kadejan Farms (my surprise favorite) and Seasonal Vegetables with Lone Grazer Cheese. Each has homemade crust and is also available to go! The Draft Horse offers a grab-and-go deli and all menu items are available for takeout. Stop in and order a Chicken Pot Pie to go, or better yet stick around and check it out!!
If time allows for a quick stop after lunch, a mere mile away is Sikora’s Polish Market and Deli (https://www.sikoraspolishmarket.com). My order varies but typically includes Juniper Sausage, Black Forest Sausage, Dry Krakowska Ham Sausage and a varied selection of Polish Pickles.
